Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore started in 2002 as "Amrita Institute of Technology & Science" with a vision to produce quality engineers with service attitude for the benefit of the society and nation. The school was conceived of as the grooming ground for future engineering professionals of India. Initially it had only three branches: Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Information Technology. It was then affiliated to the Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgum.

A nearly 100 years (established in 1910) old Organization, Bijapur Liberal District Education Association, affectionately referred to as BLDEA like many a large organizations had a humble beginning. But it had great visionary like PG Halakatti as founding father, great statesman like BM Patil as custodian.More over it always had the spiritual and moral blessings of seers like Shri Shantveer Swamijee of Babaleshwar and Poojya Banthanal Mahaswamijee. One should say the Organization itself.......
